The bigger the challenge, the bigger the opportunity!” That is the commitment that earned Troy King the 2010 Canadian Coach of the Year Award. The award was presented to King by choice publisher Garry Schleifer at the choice Magazine booth during the recent International Coach Federation (ICF) Annual Conference in Orlando, Florida.

King, of Vancouver, British Columbia, is a Master Certified Coach with an MBA and 15 years’ experience coaching across North America. He has been a part of three award-winning Prism projects in three years and continues to innovate with his clients to create ‘triple bottom line results’ (ROI, leadership and sustainability). King specializes in collaborating with teams of coaches on largescale coaching projects and coaching technology leaders committed to harnessing innovation for rapid growth and global contribution.

“Troy has a passion for coaching as the highest leverage means of unleashing people potential,” said Schleifer. “Both highly practical, in achieving bottom line results now, and creatively strategic in collaborating with clients to achieve seemingly impossible objectives, Troy lives his commitment to ‘The bigger the challenge, the bigger the opportunity.’ “

One of the other nominees for the award was Laura Watson, ACC, MSW. Watson, of Calgary, Alberta, is president of Venture Coaching. “She has always been focused on making a difference,” said Schleifer. “Laura’s life and leadership coaching focuses on helping business leaders realize accelerated and sustainable personal and professional growth so they can get their time back, make more money and have more fun!”

All nominees for the Award were subject to a rigorous screening process by their peers. Full details are available at: http://www.choice-online.com/coachoftheyear.

Troy King, Canadian Coach of the Year 2010, has been helping clients maximize bottom-line profits by building uncompromised coaching principles into the core of their business development, operational, and financial systems for the past 15 years. Troy, an MCC, was awarded the ‘choice‘ magazine 2010 Canadian Coach of the Year Award at the ICF conference held in Orlando, Florida in December, 2009.

Troy is the fifth recipient of the award which, via a rigorous peer selection process, honours coaches who are credentialed, experienced and who personify the professionalism which coaching clients demand and deserve. Troy has been a part of 3 award winning Prism projects in 3 years and continues to innovate with his clients to produce ‘Triple Bottom Line Results’ (People, Profit and Sustainability).

How can coaching achieve all three at once and how can coaches achieve six figure incomes without leaving behind their coaching ideals? Troy and Corporate Symphony, the Canada-wide team of world-class coaches he formed 3 years ago, have found the answer lies in moving beyond singular coaching relationships to cohesive large scale coaching projects that leverage existing leadership programs, integrate into talent development initiatives, and are designed for maximum impact.

Troy is a busy coach who recently had 50 individual clients on his coaching roster, which includes corporate clients, new coaches whom he mentors, and leaders in non-profit organizations. How does he handle 50 clients and maintain perspective? The key is in the tremendous depth and agility that Troy brings to his coaching. One moment he can be lightly, humorously building rapport, the next he can be intensely but calmly asking the question that goes right to the heart of the issue.

Another key to Troy’s success is that he is both highly practical in achieving bottom line results and strategically creative in collaborating with clients to achieve seemingly impossible objectives. He boldly lives his commitment to ‘The bigger the challenge, the bigger the opportunity!’

When asked what is most important for leaders to achieve success, Troy stressed ‘Strategic Boldness’, boldly going beyond one’s comfort zone, going beyond fear through proactive risk management, to reach what is most important. “If your own ‘leader passport’ has frequent stamps confirming your consistent travel beyond the border of fear, you will be invaluable in leading others and your organization to increased people, profit and purpose bottom lines!”

Never one to rest on accomplishments, 2010 will be another breakthrough year for Troy and Corporate Symphony, with several large scale leadership development and coaching projects and the launch of a new global strategic alliance to provide even more value for Corporate Symphony clients.

Troy welcomes questions, dialogue and collaboration with all leaders and can be contacted at troy@corporatesymphony.ca or toll free at 866-551-1520.
